The MSA Design Awards

The Awards held annually since 1995, are presented for exceptional buildings that have made a positive contribution to their local environment and celebrates the fantastic work of Manchester Architects.

The Judge is to be announced prior to the awards ceremony.
The Awards Evening will take place on Thursday 12th June at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

How to Enter

Please complete the form on this page with your project entry details and upload the following as a single zip file:
– 1 x A1 Landscape Submission Board
– 1 x A3 Project Description Sheet
– 1 x high res jpeg image

Please note, once you have made your submission our finance team will be in touch with a VAT invoice. Your submission will be valid on receipt of payment.

Eligibility

Submissions for the Awards (excluding the Student Award) must be designed by a qualified architect or by an architectural practice with at least one director / principal who is a registered architect

Location

All entries must be from Architects, or Architectural practices whose offices are local* to Manchester. Please note, entries from practices whose offices have multiple locations: the project must have been undertaken by an Architect practicing predominately within the office local* to Manchester to be eligible. Projects themselves can be located anywhere.

Future Architect – Student Award

Eligible for students of the Manchester School of Architecture and students studying BSc(Hons) Architecture, or MArch at the University of Salford. £1000 prize for the winning submission. The MSA committee will shortlist 10no. entries which will be printed and displayed on the evening. All submissions will be displayed digitally. More Info.

Project Requirements

Submissions for the “built” project categories must have been completed and occupied prior to April 2025 and after December 2023. Projects must not have been submitted previously within the same category, unless it was previously “unbuilt” and is now “built”.

Student Award: Project must be a final project for final year of the undergraduate degree, or final year of Masters / Post-graduate and must be from Academic year 2024/2025. Please note only one winner will be selected for this award.

Submission Requirements

Final Submission Date – Monday 12th May 2025 (7pm)
Student Submission Date – Friday 23rd May 2025 (7pm)
The A1 submission boards will be printed/mounted by the MSA. The cost of this is included in the submission fee.

£135.00 + VAT. Payment to be made via Bacs transfer on receipt of VAT invoice

Announcement and Presentation of Awards will be presented at an evening reception on Thursday 12th June 2025. At the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.
Please note, the MSA committee reserves the right to split categories or move submissions into different categories.
