We are incredibly excited to announce this year’s MSA Awards judge – Annalie Riches.
Annalie is Founding Director of Mikhail Riches, which she co-founded in 2015 with a clear focus on delivering housing and neighbourhoods that are inherently sustainable, socially responsive and genuinely joyful places to live.
Before establishing Mikhail Riches, Annalie was a founding director of Riches Hawley Mikhail, where she helped set new standards for low-carbon social housing through pioneering projects such as Clay Field and Goldsmith Street. Goldsmith Street went on to win the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize in 2019, widely recognised as the UK’s highest honour in architecture, celebrating its exceptional design quality and environmental performance.
Annalie’s career spans a rich range of experiences, including working in Paris with the renowned engineer Peter Rice. In 2002, she took a hands-on approach to design and construction, quite literally going “on the tools” to build her own home, Whatcotts Yard.
Her work today reflects a rare breadth of expertise – from strategic masterplanning to detailed architectural design. Key projects include VeloCity, the winning proposal in the 2018 NIC competition to deliver 400,000 new homes between Oxford and Cambridge. She is also leading major schemes such as Park Hill Phase 4 and the Bridgewater masterplan in the Olympic Park.
Annalie brings to this year’s awards a deeply informed perspective on sustainable housing, design excellence and the social impact of architecture.
