MSA Lecture – Studio MUTT

20 February 2025 @ 5:45 pm

Studio MUTT is an architecture and design studio based in Liverpool and London, working everywhere. This talk presents recent public-facing projects as a stage set for everyday activities: prop, set, ensemble cast.

Graham Burn is a founding director of Studio MUTT alongside James Crawford and Alexander Turner. The Liverpool- and London-based studio was established in 2017 with the ambition of creating characterful public-facing work. Graham has overseen significant cultural and public-facing projects including Bags at the V&A, the Offbeat Sari at the Design Museum, and the transformation of Pool Meadow in Coventry. His current work includes lifting the roof off Stretford Mall to create a mixed-use outdoor town centre and a major exhibition on the social and political power of gardening at the British Library.

He was taught at the University of Liverpool by Prof. David Dunster, and by Prof. Jonathan Hill at the Bartlett in Unit 12, before working at Stirling Prize-winning Allford Hall Monaghan Morris on major urban projects including the retrofit of Peter Foggo’s 1FA at Broadgate.

Graham has taught at the Bartlett, Oxford Brookes University, University of Brighton, University of Greenwich, and most recently NOW, a practice-led teaching studio formed by Studio MUTT at University of Liverpool.
